The universe is a pretty big place when we think of us as creatures with intelligence roaming the face of earth, which is a small to medium sized third planet of a sun which is a recently originated star of  comparatively smaller diameter ( and not even a binary system, which is far more abundant in the universe - as we know now).

Our sun with another handful of bigger and smaller planets whirling around it is a very inconspicuous member of the milky way which is our home galaxy, harboring more than a hundred billion stars, most of which are millions of years older than our 'important' sun and billions of light-years away from us and traveling at a reasonable speed away from us and each other.

 The milky way Galaxy is tucked away pretty far in the outer regions of our universe, with billions and billions of other bigger and massive galaxies distributed along the inner core and outer peripheries; in which most of the other galaxies are having billions of young stars, white dwarfs, neutron stars and pulsars (most of them blackholes with their own singularity at the center) pretty much older and emitting trillion watts equivalent of powere per second into the black cold abyss around them; with us not in a position to appreciate them and say "oohhh.... wooowwww..... wahhhhhh.....

Our sun in the local community is also in a slightly offcentered seat in the Grand Gallery of Milky Way; with it being positioned in one of the outer revolving arms of the Galaxy with the mega show of birth, evolution, and the final spectacular explosion of  supernovas or neutron stars being missed every day, every moment.

 This is one of the reasons why I definitely understand the serious scientific researchers, who toil for years to develop theories by which we are able to understand the reason why white dwarfs have become white dwarfs, why supernovas explode, how a blackhole can be formed, how space - time gets distorted by the proximity of a medium sized blackhole, How event horizon may allow us to travel to other universes - but time travel is not possible, and why there shouldn't be any extra terrestrial intelligence according to their theories; as their theories have only made the supernovas explode (it waited patiently for the man to formulate his hypothesis, form it into a theory and after a few years without shame accept that the theory was basically incorrect and formulate a new theory), the blackholes to form, and the whole universe is waiting for our most exalted scientists to discover in the next millennium that there is a definite way to travel to other parallel universes or to the unexplored regions of our own immediate neighborhood ( mars is the immediate destination of us by manned aircraft in the next 50 years), where intelligence would then be formed from the basic elements and then; an extra terrestrial civilization would begin.
